General Info

AttendanceRegular school attendance is required by law and is necessary for good scholarship.  Any student who misses more than sixteen (16) school days during the year places his promotion in jeopardy.

Absences

By Florida State Law (232.10) a note is required from the parent stating the specific reason for the absence.

Planned Absences

For absences other than illness or emergency, you are required to get a planned absence form from the school office (example: educational, church, or family trips).  These must be approved by the administration at least 2 days prior to the absence.  Student then will be permitted to make up work and tests.  Planned absences will not be approved during exams or achievement tests.

Unexcused Absences

All other absences are unexcused.  Students will not be given credit for work or tests missed because of an unexcused absence.

Tardies

Students are considered tardy if they are not in class when the bell rings.  If a student is tardy they must report to the school office for an admittance slp.  You must allow adequate travel time.  A total of no more than five (5) tardies will be permitted in a quarter.  Upon the 6th tardy parent will be contacted by the school office for a conference.

Students at OCP wear attractive, monogrammed polo shirts in royal blue, bright yellow, or white that can be purchased through the finance office. You may purchase uniform shirts from the school office anytime during office hours. They are $18.00 each.

Boys of all ages wear navy or khaki colored slacks or shorts (excluding corduroy and cargo-style). Girls of all ages wear navy or khaki colored uniform bottoms. When purchasing girls’ skirts, skorts, and capris, and shorts, remember that 2″ above the knee is acceptable.

The standards of dress at Orlando Christian Prep are based on Biblical absolutes and principles found in the following Scriptures: 1 Timothy 2:9, 1 Corinthians 10:31, and 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22. We believe that these verses have practical applications to the dress and grooming of our students. God is glorified when we dress and conduct ourselves in good taste and with modesty.

Florida Health and Immunization Requirements A student may not attend school until all health and immunization records are complete.

  • All students must submit a copy of their certificate of live birth.
  • K5 & Older: Each child must have a “Student Physical Examination Form #3040″ and “DH Form 680″ (shot record).
  • K2, K3 & K4: Each child must have “DH Form 680″ to certify their immunization.

Please refer to the Florida Department of Health for more information.

Please have your child’s physician prescribe any necessary medication to be taken before and/or after school. If you prefer, as the parent, you may come to administer any medication in person. If there is an ongoing medical necessity, you should complete the forms required by law. These forms are available in the office. We do not provide any over-the-counter medications.

We have an on campus school nurse. She provides basic first aid for our students with lots of TLC. Our school nurse graduated in 1996 from Career Training Institute with her degree in medical assisting and is also registered with the American Registry of medical assistants.

Orlando Christian Prep has security cameras installed and follows strict security protocol to ensure your child’s safety.

Because of our commitment to provide protection for our students, staff, and volunteers, it is our policy that background checks and character references be successfully completed on everyone who has contact on a regular basis with our students, including parent volunteers.

Faculty members wear name tags which clearly identify them as staff. It is necessary for parents and visitors to go to the office to obtain an ID badge or sticker and to sign in and sign out.
